Best Publication Award

Dr.S.B.Hosamani Head, Agri Business & Export Knowledge Centre, UAS, Dharwad has been awarded the Best Publication Award for the year 2006 in appreciation and recognisation of his kannada publication relating to Agricultural Marketing. The award was instituted by the Karnataka State Agricultural Marketing Board, Bangalore and presented to Dr.Hosamani recently in the function by Sri.Selvakumar ,IAS, Director, Department of Agricultural Marketing, Govt of Karnataka, Bangalore. He has already bagged the Rockefellar award, World Bank award, Incentive award and many other awards.

Details of the State Level Pomegranate Seminar at UAS Dharwad

A State Level Seminar on "Prospects of Quality Pomegranate Production and Marketing in Karnataka" was held during 26th - 28th February, 2008 at UAS, Dharwad. The Seminar was inaugurated by Sri.Prabhakar Chandane,President All India Pomegranate Growers Association Pune.Dr.S.A.Patil, Director, Indian Agriculture Research Institute, New Delhi was the Cheif Guest.The seminar was presided by Dr.V.S.Kulkarni, Honorable Vice President of All India Pomegranate Growers Association, Sri.Krishnappa, President,Karnataka Pomegranate Growers Association, C.R.Sorgavi, Ex-MLC Bagalkot and Honorable members of board of regents. Mrs.Isabella.Xavier, Sri.Gurunath.Udhugoudar,Sri.A.D.Kotnal, ri.Timmanagowda Patil, Dr.Y.B.Patil and representatives of NABARD, National Horticulture Board, and Horticulture Department were present on the occasion.The seminar was jointly organized by Agri Business and Export Knoweldge Centre, UAS, Dharwad, National Horticulture Board,Gurgaon, NABARD, Mumbai and Department of Horticulture, Bangalore.The deliberations were held on the various facets of Production and Marketing aspects of pomegranate crop.The 30 resource persons and about 300 farmers attended the seminar.

Details of Chilli Seminar

In order to impart the technical knowledge related to "Production and Marketig aspects of chilli" to the farmers. The seminar was jointly organised by Agri Business and Export Knowledge Centre, UAS, Dharwad and Pakshatita Raita hitarkshana Samiti, Spices Board Hubli and Krishik Samaj Dharwad on 19th March 2008, at Co-operative Wholesale Society Hubli.The seminar was inaugrated by Sri.G.R.Ptail, President of Co-operative Wholesale Society and besided Sri.Kenchanagowdar, Sri Bappu gowda Patil, Sri.Mamdapur, Dr.S.B.Hosamani, Dr.N.R.MamaleDesai, Dr.Sundareshan, Dr.C.P.Mansur, Dr.Awakanavar, Dr.Suresh Ekabote, Dr.Bidari and Dr.Allolli were present on the occasion.The seminar was attended by nearly 60 farmers.

One day Seminar on Production and Marketing of Mangoes

A One day Seminar on Production and Marketing of Mangoes was jointly organized by the Agri Business and Export Knowledge Centre, UAS, Dharwad, KCC &I, hubli and Dept. of Horticulture, Zilla Panchayat Dharwad on 17th April 2008.The seminar was inagurated by  Dr.L.Krishna Naik,Director of Extension, UAS Dharwad and was presided by Sri.P.Linganagowda, Dr.S.B.Hosmani was the chief guest and the sessions were addressed by Dr.S.G.Angadi, Mrs.         . The office barriers of the chamber and the mango growers were present on the occasion.

Visit of Sri.S.S.Patil:

Sri S.S.Patil, President, Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Bangalore visited the centre on 19th April 2008,and discussed regarding the potentialities of Agri Business in northern part of Karnataka and He also complimented the Centre and University for having established market linkages for agri/horticultural commodities in Northern Karnataka.

Mango Exhibition Cum Sale at Dharwad, Karnataka

It is proposed to organise jointly a "Mango Exhibition cum Sale" by the Department of Horticulture, Agri Business and Export Knowledge Centre, University of Agricultural Sciences,Dharwad, Sufal Mango Growers Association and HOPCOMS during 13-15 May 2008,at the premises of Deputy Director of Horticulture, opposite to Brindavan Hotel Station Road ,Dharwad.A Limited number of stalls are available free of cost on first come first serve basis. Interested farmers may send their applications through the Assistant Directors of their respective talukas to the Deputy Director of Horticulture, Dharwad on or before 9th May 2008.

Further the Exporters, Packing Material,Processors, Manufacturers and self help groups may also send their entries for participation to exhibit the products.
